Stazione 13: Jesus is taken down from the cross

 

 

Immortal love …

“After this, Joseph of Arimathea, secretly a disciple of Jesus for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate if he could remove the body of Jesus. And Pilate permitted it. So he came and took his body.” (John 19:38)

The image of the Pieta comes to mind, the image of Mater Dolorosa, the Mother of Sorrows. Jesus is taken down from the cross and placed in the arms of his mother. An adult human being, lifeless in the same arms that once carried Him and the womb that gave birth to him. A mother weeps for her child who she has brought to life and cared for years, with whom she had shared countless hours of joy. She is a picture of unspeakable grief, indescribable tenderness, and wordless despair.

Mary, the mother, loves with her whole being beyond physical death. So much is expressed in this silent embrace: it is the image of a love for which bodily death is not a barrier and does not mean the end. Continua a leggere

Stazione 12: Gesù dies a the cross

 

 

Unifying love in the darkest night …

“E alle tre Gesù gridò a gran voce, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” che è tradotto, “Mio Dio, mio Dio, perché mi hai abbandonato?” Alcuni degli astanti che l'hanno sentito dire, “Aspetto, sta chiamando Elia.” Uno di loro corse, imbevuto di vino un pan di spagna, mettilo su una canna, e gliela diede da bere, detto, “Attesa, vediamo se Elia viene a tirarlo giù.” Gesù lanciò un forte grido ed espirò l'ultimo respiro.“ (Segno 15:34-37)

Un ultimo atto di amore e tenerezza terrena: Gesù chiede al discepolo Giovanni di prendersi cura di sua madre e chiede a sua madre di accettare Giovanni al suo posto. Entrambi non lasciano il suo fianco fino all'ultimo respiro.

Proviamo ad entrare in questa scena mentalmente. Davanti a noi c'è solo la tristezza, nessun conforto, nessuna speranza. – Tutto sembra essere giunto al termine… Continua a leggere

Stazione 11: Gesù viene inchiodato alla croce

 

 

 

inchiodare …

“Quando giunsero nel luogo chiamato Teschio, hanno crocifisso lui e i criminali lì, uno alla sua destra, l'altro alla sua sinistra. Allora Gesù disse, “Padre, perdonali, non sanno cosa fanno.” (Luca 23:33-34)

Gesù, che ha sempre insegnato apertamente e liberamente, ora è inchiodato. Come un pezzo di legno che afferri, che hai a tua disposizione. È crocifisso e sta subendo la punizione più vergognosa che esistesse in quel momento.

Dio è inchiodato dagli uomini, la sua taglia si è ridotta. Si arrende completamente. Nel suo incredibile amore per noi permette che ciò accada… Continua a leggere

Stazione 10: Gesù viene derubato delle sue vesti

 

 

Esporre …

 

“Posso contare tutte le mie ossa. Mi fissano e gongolano; si spartiscono le mie vesti; per le mie vesti tirano a sorte.” (Salmo 22:18-19)

Arrivare al luogo dell'esecuzione, Gesù si strappa le vesti. È esposto, esposto agli occhi di molti, esposto a loro senza protezione. Gesù sta sopportando questo: È allo stesso livello del contaminato, gli umiliati, gli esposti di ogni genere. Privato di tutti i suoi beni e dignità, ora si trova in fondo alla società umana.

Ancora e ancora, succede che le persone si espongono a vicenda – spesso senza nemmeno accorgersene. Sia attraverso la spietatezza, spudoratezza, mancanza di rispetto, a volte stupidità, – o forse deliberatamente, ferire l'altro, sminuire, degradare. Continua a leggere

Stazione 8: Gesù incontra le donne che piangono

 

 

Empatia e Ccommozione

“Una grande folla seguì Gesù, including many women who mourned and lamented him. Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep instead for yourselves and for your children.“ (Luca 23:27-28)

Some women who witness the collapse of Jesus are deeply moved by the suffering of another, even when the other is apparently presented as a “criminal”. They don’t question him, they don’t question guilt or innocence, they just see the broken, tormented, a person badly treated to the extreme. Continua a leggere

Stazione 9: Gesù falls down under the cross for the third time

 

 

Lying on the Ground …

“To all my foes I am a thing of scorn, and especially to my neighbors, a horror to my friends. When they see me in public, they quickly shy away.“ (Salmo 31:12)

Jesus lies motionless on the ground. Defenseless, exhausted, at the end of his human strength. He lies there like an abandoned, tormented person, exploited and used up. It is difficult to bear this image – and yet we expect it of many of our fellow men. Continua a leggere

Stazione 4: Jesus meets his mother

 

 

Getting Touched …

The words that old Simeon spoke to Mary at the temple are beginning to come true: “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted and you yourself a sword will pierce so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” (comp. Luke 2:34-35)

Mary, the mother of Jesus, is moved by compassion. She does not withdraw in this distress but shows her Son that she stands by him in everything and that she is with him with her love. She does not leave his side, non evita il dolore visibile, lo accompagna e rimane presente. Continua a leggere

Stazione 5: Simone aiuta Gesù a portare la croce

 

 

 

Andando d'accordo …

“Hanno messo in servizio un passante, Simone, da Cirene, che veniva dal paese, il padre di Alessandro e Rufo, portare la sua croce.“ (Segno 15:21)

La via di Gesù incrocia la via del sorpreso Simone contadino. Forse è stanco dal lavoro e sta tornando a casa. Ora deve portare il raggio di esecuzione di a “criminal”. Simon non ha idea di chi sia questo condannato e di come si trovi così all'improvviso e inesperto in questa situazione. Di fronte alla violenza circostante, senza dubbio prende su di sé la trave pesante e accompagna Gesù nel suo ultimo viaggio. Continua a leggere

Stazione 6: Veronica porge a Gesù il sudario

 

 

 

Alleviare Needs e Ssofferenze …

“Beati i misericordiosi, perché sarà loro mostrata misericordia. Beati i puri di cuore, perché vedranno Dio.“ (opaco 5:7-8)

La folla segue con entusiasmo lo spettacolo spettacolare con scherno, violenza, crudeltà e curiosità. Veronica, una donna in arrivo, ha il coraggio di uscire dalla massa. Pulisce e rinfresca il volto sofferente di Gesù. Continua a leggere

Stazione 7: Jesus falls down under the cross for the second tempo

 

 

 

Collapsing …

“But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people. All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads.” (Salmo 22,7-8)

The cruel brutality, the injustice, the ever more oppressive burden, the physical and probably also mental pain, make Jesus collapse a second time. How close Jesus is to us in his human fragility and vulnerability! The people around him stand there, looking, shouting, mocking, scolding. Some are affected, others are not, they appear to be curious, helpless, or happy not to be affected themselves. Continua a leggere
