It was Sunday and we took the bus to a very important place in Spanish history. It was the monastery of San Millán Yuso and Suso, where the first written words in the Spanish language were found. We took a guided tour of the two houses and were confronted with the highly interesting history of the place.
The day gave us time to relax and reflect on the past few days and also to get to know our sisters and brothers in a different and more relaxed way.

The morning began with a lecture on the content of a message. How is the message “sent” and what content is “received”? What do we read or believe we read in the message? We realized that there are several very different possibilities as to why misinterpretations can occur in communication again and again. The packed program of the assembly continued. We saw an outline of the signs of the times and how we might respond to their questions, and an introduction to the ROPs, what they are, and what significance they have for the work of the organization. This revealed some discussion points, which were further explored in small groups.

In the afternoon, we had a presentation by the outgoing Superior General of the Salvatorians, Fr. Milton Zonta SDS. He shared with us the developments within the Society and its intentions for the future. Of course, aspects of the collaboration between the three Salvatorian branches were also an important topic. The second day began with a talk by Father George Kolodziej SDS, the facilitator of the General Assembly. He took us on a reflective journey of how to treat each other in a sisterly and brotherly way, and how to treat each other with respect and patience. We need to respect our differences in culture, mentality, language, and way of expressing ourselves. At the same time, we can discover the richness that God has given us through these things.

The other items on the morning’s agenda were the report of the General Committee on the last term of office and the difficulties caused by the absences of General Committee members, the Covid crisis and its impact, but also the great joy of being recognized as an Association of the Faithful at the Dicastery of Laity, Family, and Life.
