Dear readers,

Since accessing the internet in Logrone was very difficult because the corresponding wifi networks kept crashing, I will now make the events available here as a roundup.

The second day began with a talk by Father George Kolodziej SDS, the facilitator of the General Assembly. He took us on a reflective journey of how to treat each other in a sisterly and brotherly way, and how to treat each other with respect and patience. We need to respect our differences in culture, mentality, language, and way of expressing ourselves. At the same time, we can discover the richness that God has given us through these things.

The other items on the morning’s agenda were the report of the General Committee on the last term of office and the difficulties caused by the absences of General Committee members, the Covid crisis and its impact, but also the great joy of being recognized as an Association of the Faithful at the Dicastery of Laity, Family, and Life.

The financial report gave an overview of how our budget was consolidated, the contributions made by the units, and the importance of having a finance committee to support the treasurer in the future. Finally, the internal and external auditors confirmed the accuracy of the accounts and proposed that discharge be granted to the outgoing General Committee, which was unanimously approved.

In the afternoon sessions, we were delighted to hear the presentations by Sr. Maria Yaneth, the Superior General, and Sr. Jaqueline of the Salvatorian Sisters. They presented the work and the challenges that the present time brings with it. These range from the effects of the climate crisis, the areas affected by poverty, the exploitation of people, and human trafficking, to the challenges posed by modern means of communication, keyword: fake news and AI. We recognized various overlaps with our own tasks here and hope for further good and increased cooperation.
